Atelier Tour

Excited today because we got to experience an atelier tour.

Everything was so foreign and interesting to us. We all know a ring is made of metal but we never knew how it was made from scratch. It really is a very tedious process.

We were made to wear safety googles. Think we look like "lao fu zi".
A little bit stylish and nerd at the same time.

So on to the process...

Firstly, you have to solder the metal together to form the shape of the ring. This alone looks tough as it is already.

Then on to the smoothing of the ring using sand paper, it is to smoothen out the excess of the protruding metals from the soldering process. Sandpaper works this way by scratching away the defects with thousands of tiny abrasive particles. This process covers the connection part of the ring and gives the ring its shape.

After that, we moved on the part where the ring is given its surface according to customer's preferences.

Then it was onto the polishing of the ring to give it its shiny surface.

Amazed by how everything works.

Then it was over to stone setting.

The drilling into the ring to give the space the stone needs for it to be set.

That amount of concentration, attention, meticulousness and preciseness needed for this process due to the size of the gemstones. Any mistakes would result in the previous processes being redone.

Individual photos with all the craftsmen.

And that was the end of our Atelier tour. Feel more like an expert in jewelry now. AHAHA just kidding... Still a long way.

Went to eat 500 yen Sushi with Shindo san and Shuguru san for lunch, it was so fresh and they were  very generous with the portion. Would definitely go there again, though half the time we were eating and not knowing what fish it was AHAHA, still it tasted so good. Thank you Shindo san.:)

After lunch, we bought snacks at a discount shop downstairs our office, and it amounted to this. Japanese snacks are just so good. Cheap and delicious.
